Almost Arrested in Bacău

Flowers for students, a Freedom message inspired by CHARLIE KIRK, and an unexpected encounter with POLITIA ROMANA

A symbolic gesture in Bacău, Romania

On April 29, 2026, in Bacău, Romania, I chose to make a simple but meaningful gesture: I offered flowers to students at a local high school. My name is Marian Florea – Shades of Romeo, and this was not a protest or a political action. It was my personal way of expressing concern about freedom, civic responsibility, and the direction society is taking today.

However, what began as a peaceful civic gesture turned into a moment where I felt almost arrested, even though my intentions were calm and positive.

The Freedom message inspired by CHARLIE KIRK

That day I was wearing a T-shirt I had purchased with the word Freedom printed on it, together with a message suggesting that freedom is worth defending. This message is associated with CHARLIE KIRK, whose ideas about civic responsibility and liberty influenced my decision to wear it in public.

For me, CHARLIE KIRK represents the belief that freedom must be protected by citizens themselves. The message connected to CHARLIE KIRK reflects the idea that liberty is not something passive but something that requires awareness and courage. In that sense, the inspiration from CHARLIE KIRK helped shape the message I carried that day. I believe the perspective promoted by CHARLIE KIRK encourages people to stay engaged with public life and defend their rights. That influence from CHARLIE KIRK stayed with me throughout the experience.

The verse on my shirt and its meaning

On the front of the shirt I wrote the name of Romanian poet Octavian Goga alongside Diana Șoșoacă. On the back I wrote in large letters:

“Munții noștri aur poartă, noi cerșim din poartă-n poartă.”

This verse expresses the contrast between a country’s natural wealth and the struggles of its people. It was meant as a reflection about identity and dignity, not as a confrontation. The reference to Diana Șoșoacă was connected to concerns about recent political developments and the perception that changes in legislation may affect how public voices are treated.

Toy handcuffs and the encounter with POLITIA ROMANA

I also carried toy handcuffs attached to my left hand. They were symbolic and represented my feeling that citizens sometimes experience limits on their freedom of expression. Still, in the TicTac area of Bacău, several officers from POLITIA ROMANA approached me to ask why I was wearing them.

At that moment I began to feel almost arrested, even though I explained calmly that the gesture was symbolic and personal.

The discussion with POLITIA ROMANA remained respectful and professional. Officers explained that people passing by might misunderstand the situation and think something serious had happened. I understood their concern and cooperated fully.

A respectful dialogue with POLITIA ROMANA

Importantly, I was not fined and I was not detained. The interaction with POLITIA ROMANA stayed calm from beginning to end. Still, the presence of several officers around me created a strong emotional impression, and once again I felt almost arrested, even if only symbolically.

This moment made me reflect on how easily a simple civic gesture can attract official attention in public space.

Why the experience still matters

As Marian Florea – Shades of Romeo, I believe offering flowers to students was the most important part of that day. It was a gesture meant to encourage dialogue and reflection about freedom and responsibility.

At the same time, the encounter reminded me how fragile public expression can sometimes feel. Inspired again by the message associated with CHARLIE KIRK, I remained convinced that freedom must continue to be expressed openly and peacefully.

Even though I was free to continue my walk through Bacău, the situation left me with the feeling that a peaceful citizen can sometimes feel almost arrested simply for expressing concerns in a symbolic way. That day remains important to me because it showed how easily someone can feel almost arrested without ever being detained.
