Today, February 12, 2026, I stood in the streets of Bacău with over 200 proud Romanians, wrapped in our tricolor flag around my neck like a warrior’s scarf. We protested the tax hikes, the lost bonuses, and the austerity crushing families and workers. „Ajunge!” echoed through the center – enough with governments that take more while giving less. Organized by AUR, it was a roar of national pride: red, yellow, blue flying high, reminding us who we are as a people.
This wasn’t just about money. It was about freedom – the kind Charlie Kirk always defended. For years in London, as part of Shades of Romeo, I’ve given free roses to strangers, symbols of kindness and human connection. I’ve left them many times at the U.S. Embassy, each with Charlie Kirk’s powerful truth: “Freedom is from God, not from the government.” Our rights aren’t handouts from politicians; they’re divine gifts no state can claim or revoke.
In Romania, we know this better than anyone. We lived through communism – a regime that stole freedom, crushed the freedom to vote, silenced voices, and turned people into slaves of the state. Governments, throughout history, have the same temptation: to grow bigger, control more, tax harder, and erode what God gave us. Today’s tax increases feel like the first steps down that old path. But we won’t let it happen again.
I wore the tricolor proudly today, feeling the fire of our ancestors. We protested peacefully but fiercely – families, youth, elders united under Romania’s colors. This fight is for freedom in every sense: economic freedom from endless taxes, political freedom to vote without fear, and spiritual freedom rooted in faith. Charlie Kirk taught that true liberty comes from God, anchored in truth and morality. Without that foundation, governments turn tyrannical – as we saw in our dark communist past.
To everyone reading this – no matter where you live, in Romania or anywhere else – hear my message: Protect your freedom. Governments will always try to take it, inch by inch. Don’t wait until it’s gone. Stand up like we did today in Bacău. Carry the truth of Charlie Kirk: rights come from God, not man. Defend your freedom to vote, your right to work without punishment, your faith without interference.
